The Whitefish Lake Institute is offering water stewardship awards for the first time this year.

The awards will recognize individuals or groups that took extraordinary measures to protect water quality in the Whitefish area this year in one of five categories: water quality, habitat protection, green building/native landscaping, environmental education and lifetime achievement.

Winners will be announced in January 2009.

Nomination forms are due by Nov. 20 and can be downloaded at www.whitefishlake.org. For more information, contact the Whitefish Lake Institute at 862-4327 or e-mail info@whitefishlake.org.

Founded in 2005, the Whitefish Lake Institute works to gather scientific research and engage citizens in protecting and improving the quality of Whitefish Lake and its watershed.
