Larry Iverson, a two-time Class AA golf champion from Glacier High School, signed a national letter of intent on Wednesday to attend the University of Washington.

Iverson was one of three golfers to sign with the Huskies. He will be eligible for the 2009-2010 season.

Iverson has also competed in Junior America's Cup, Callaway Junior World Championships and Junior PGA Championships.

"His focus, discipline, and determination are remarkable," UW golf coach Matt Thurmond said in a press release.

"He is a very good golfer and will instantly be the most physically strong player on the team. He knows how to win and wins lots of tournaments. I'm really anxious to see what he will do in the Pac-10. He's a pretty solid ping pong player, too."

Also signing were Chris Williams of Moscow, Idaho, and Charlie Hughes of Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

"We always try to recruit student-athletes that have great golf skill and potential, know how to win, will be great team members, and are committed to their academics," Thurmond said.

"These guys all have that. They will come in next Fall and immediately push our veterans and challenge for a spot in the top 5. That is always good."
