Whitefish police

An unknown amount of cash was stolen during an armed robbery Wednesday night at the Subway restaurant in Whitefish.

Officers responded to the sandwich shop, located in the 6400 block of U.S. 93, about 10 p.m. Wednesday after a man entered the business and threatened employees with a knife.

The man escaped on foot with money taken from the cash register, according to Whitefish Police Department Assistant Chief Mike Ferda.

The suspect, believed to be in his early 20s, is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, and having blonde hair and fair skin. He reportedly was wearing a camouflage-patterned jacket with a built-in hood or hooded shirt underneath and white gloves with blue rubber on the palms.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Whitefish Police Department or CrimeStoppers at 752-TIPS.

Whitefish police also responded to a grocery store on U.S. 93 after somebody left behind a billfold, which then went missing.

Officers received 39 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police

A Columbia Falls-area woman called Flathead County Sheriff's deputies after her 53-year-old husband failed to return Wednesday night from a hunting trip in the North Fork. The North Valley Search and Rescue team was dispatched to search roads in the area, but were unable to locate the man's pickup truck. Turns out the man's truck had gotten stuck and he had to walk out of the woods. He returned home Thursday afternoon, unharmed.

Deputies broke up a disturbance between a woman and her boyfriend on East Reserve Drive. She claims he slapped her.

Someone shot a power line in Kila.

A man called to report that his daughter, who works at a fast food restaurant in Evergreen, is being stalked.

A Bison Drive resident is having problems with prowlers. Scrape marks were found on the back door, and the resident wanted advice.

Someone broke into a Hungry Horse home, damaged the stove, and then left.

Deputies responded to a Montana 35 residence and arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of partner assault after a neighbor reported hearing his girlfriend screaming for help.

A 17-year-old boy and his parents were arguing on Tamarack Lane. Deputies separated the warring parties.

Deputies received 138 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kalispell police

Kalispell police were called to pick up a loaded, homemade gun. After retrieving the weapon, officers went to interview the owner at a mental health clinic on U.S. 93 North.

Officers were called to remove an unwanted boyfriend from a Fifth Avenue East apartment.

A group of kids stole a carved wooden bear statue from a Teal Drive porch. The owner opted not to press charges.

Someone causing a disturbance at a coffee shop on U.S. 93 North was told not to return.

Two men causing a disturbance at a restaurant on East Idaho Street were told to leave, but only went so far as the parking lot - where they stood outside their vehicle and started drinking. Both were cited for open containers.

Officers received 56 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police received 30 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Kila dump.

The Bigfork Fire Department responded to reports of downed power lines on Swan Retreat Road.
