HELENA - The homecoming game at Vigilante Stadium started like a dream come true for Helena Capital Friday night. For the Glacier Wolfpack, it was more like a nightmare.

The Bruins scored on their first four drives for a 28-0 lead. Three of those touchdowns came within a span of 28 seconds.

After that, the Bruins never looked back, finishing the game with a 62-27 triumph and 612 yards of total offense. The Bruins finished the first half with a 42-7 lead and had 321 yards of total offense.

But to Glacier's credit, it played until the final whistle sounded.

"Nobody ever quit," Glacier's offensive line coach Mark Harkins.

"They kept going and encouraging each other. They battled the whole time. It just happened that they ran into a buzz saw."

But there were bright spots for Glacier.

The Wolfpack regrouped at halftime thanks to senior leadership, Harkins said, and came out ready to compete.

Phil Heimerl took the second-half kickoff and returned it 89 yards to the 1-yard line.

In the third quarter, Glacier quarterback Shay Smithwick-Hann hit Tyler Lincoln, who got hit hard by a defender, but held on for a 38-yard touchdown. Lincoln, a senior, made a number of tough catches in the game and finished with 76 yards.

"Tyler had some monster plays," Harkins said.

The receiving corps for Glacier stepped up and looked much improved from previous weeks. Senior Taylor Graham caught a deep pass from Smithwick-Hann for the team's second touchdown. Graham finished with four catches for 117 yards and a TD.

Smithwick-Hann passed 37 times for 256 yards. He also ran for a score.

"We thought (Shay) played very well," Harkins said. "He stepped up and led the team. He used his legs to get out of trouble a lot tonight."

Running back Taylor Hart carried the ball 13 times and pounded through the line for a fourth-quarter touchdown. He later caught a 19-yard pass from Smithwick-Hann and scored.

The Bruins won their 14th consecutive game to improve to 6-0. Glacier dropped to 2-4.

But the Glacier team won't be seen hanging its heads after tonight's loss, according to Harkins.

"Every week is a great challenge, the kids are really good at wanting to get better," he said.
