| October 8, 2008 1:00 AM

As of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, 14 power outages affected residents of Kalispell, Evergreen, Whitefish, Kila, West Glacier, near Foy's and Echo lakes, and on Foothill Road, according to the Flathead Electric Cooperative. Between 500 and 600 residents were affected by the outages, caused primarily by trees blown down across power lines.

Gusty winds also had Flathead County Sheriff's deputies and area fire departments busy. Trees were blown over on Bitterroot Drive and First Avenue West in Kalispell. A tree blew over and hit a house on East Evergreen Drive, prompting the Evergreen Fire Department to respond. The Creston Fire Department responded to a downed power line on Foothill Road and the South Kalispell Fire Department to a downed line on Willow Glen Drive.

Deputies also responded to a tavern in Hungry Horse when a group of people in the parking lot, angry after two of their number had been kicked out of the establishment, threatened trouble. Deputies ended up arresting one of the gathered individuals, a 20-year-old man, on warrants for misdemeanor assault, disorderly conduct, and contempt of court.

Someone smashed the driver's side window and headlights on a Chevrolet pickup truck parked on Karrow Avenue. Someone also slashed two tires.

A mobile home stopped in the roadway blocked access to a business on Flathead Drive, prompting a complaint to deputies. The problem was quickly solved because the mobile home was being moved anyway.

Kalispell police arrested a 48-year-old man and his 43-year-old wife, both for partner assault, after responding to a disturbance at the couple's Seventh Avenue West residence.

A woman upset about her recent haircut walked into a salon on U.S. 93 North and began yelling at customers. She was told she would be arrested if she returned.
