Bike racers from all over Montana will be competing in two events this weekend in the Flathead Valley.

On Saturday at Woodland Park, the Sportsman Cycling team is hosting a race. Then on Sunday, Flathead Cycling hosts the ninth annual Herron Park Cyclocross race.

Registration opens at 9 a.m., and racing starts at 10:30 both days.

'ca'caCyclocross is a bicycle race that takes place in the fall and winter months. The race course is a short circuit, about a mile and a half long, according to organizer Steve Muller, and lasts approximately an hour. Racers do multiple laps and encounter obstacles which forces them to dismount their bikes and jump over hurdles, run up hills (while shouldering their bikes), and then remount their bikes and continue riding. The course consists of grass, dirt trails, gravel and paved roads, and takes place in all kinds of weather.
