While walking home from an Evergreen junior high school, a 13-year-old boy allegedly punched a 14-year-old boy. A passer-by broke up the fight and called Flathead County sheriff's deputies.

Deputies ticketed a student on suspicion of possession of tobacco at an Evergreen school, but not the same one attended by the boys in the fight.

Items were stolen from a construction trailer on Holt Drive.

Animal wardens were called to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center emergency room after a patient from the Swan Lake area showed up with an animal bite.

Two young children were observed in the middle of U.S. 2 near the Evergreen fire hall. Deputies, who had counseled the parents about taking care of their children, forwarded their report to Child Protective Services.

Deputies ticketed two women on suspicion of stealing children's cold medicine from a box store on U.S. 2 in Evergreen. One of the women allegedly opened the bottle, gave a child some medication, and then put the rest of it in her purse while the other woman stood watch.

A moose likes to come out in the evenings and hang out near the intersection of Montana 35 and Montana 82, causing a potential traffic hazard. In an unrelated animal sighting, a bear was spotted on South Hilltop Road outside Columbia Falls.

A South Cedar Drive woman reported being harassed by another woman, who lives in Idaho.

A person was taken to the hospital via private vehicle after either a fight or car crash near a Martin City bar.

Deputies responded to a Somers bar, where an intoxicated man was walking in and out of the building and generally acting strange. He was given a ride home.

Deputies told a man hanging around an Evergreen casino to leave or be ticketed on suspicion of trespassing.

Deputies received 144 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kalispell police

Kalispell police told two men asking customers of a convenience store on U.S. 93 South for cash in exchange for the use of their gas card to move along.

A dog was spotted attacking deer off Grandview Lane.

The father of a 15-year-old Second Street West girl wanted to talk with an officer about someone who may have inappropriately touched her. Later, officers received a call from a man at the same residence saying a neighbor was riding his bike and forth in front of the house, provoking his dog.

A customer called police after the clerk of a convenience store on South Main Street asked him to write a check for 7 cents more than the amount of gasoline he purchased. The manager also allegedly was belligerent with the customer.

Officers arrested a 60-year-old man on suspicion of DUI while investigating reports that the man was driving erratically on Liberty Street.

A tractor-trailer left running all night on Sixth Avenue East North was reported as suspicious. Officers left a message for the owner.

Someone took a checkbook from a North Main Street casino.

A man walking toward an East Idaho Street restaurant was yelling obscenities at passing cars. He voluntarily went to the hospital for a mental-health evaluation.

Officers received 71 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and without insurance during a traffic stop on Spokane Avenue.

Officers received 34 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police received 22 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

The Evergreen Fire Department responded to the railroad crossing on U.S. 2 after gas spilled from a 2-gallon container.

The department also responded to reports of a propane leak on Mission Trail Road.

The Columbia Falls Fire Department was paged out to reports of a fire at the city's dump site.

The department also responded to a car fire in front of the high school.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to Wheatgrass Lane for an unresponsive 3-year-old boy. He was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
