Jeannine L. Ashcraft, 69, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at her residence in Lakeside, because of lung cancer. She was born Sept. 12, 1939, to Max and Charlotte (Farmer) Ott in Wenatchee, Wash.

She moved to Moses Lake, Wash., in 1949 and helped her dad build their home and his crop dusting business. She graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1957 and attended two years at Washington State University.

She married Bob Froman in 1959 and has one son, Tom.

They moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1969 where they were active in Jaycees and March of Dimes. Jeannine worked for the county assessor, and then, in 1977, went to work for a private appraiser, Gary Hoagland, where she went from secretary/office manager to a residential appraiser.

In 1986, her friend and adviser, Hale Ashcraft, ran her campaign for Kootenai County treasurer - she was elected and served for 14 years. Jeannine and Hale were married in 1988 and made their home in Coeur d'Alene with their two West Highland white terriers.

In 1998, Hale's daughter Camille encouraged them to see Flathead Lake. They became partners in a summer home near Lakeside. In 2001, after Jeannine's retirement, Jeannine and Hale moved to their home on Flathead Lake.

Jeannine and Hale spent their retirement years enjoying their friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and most of all, playing with their three Westies. She had a very special place in her heart for her friends and neighbors throughout the valley, but especially those in Lakeside. It is a very special place to live.

She wished to thank all the wonderful people in the medical offices and Kalispell Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care they give to all of us. Most of all, she wanted to thank all our wonderful friends for the support and encouragement through her illness - walking dogs, bringing meals, rides to the medical treatments and most important, all their love. Also, a very special thanks to Drs. Ward and Peters.

She is survived by her husband, Hale Ashcraft, of Lakeside; her stepmother, Lois Ott; son, Tom; her brother, Mike Ott; as well as Hale's daughters, Camille and Ann, and sons, Jesse, Mark, Jim and Nick, and their families.

She requested memorial services be held in July of 2009 and for her ashes to be scattered in her gardens.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Jeannine's family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to offer condolences and sign Jeannine's guest book.
