Seventeen-year-old Larry Iverson led wire-to-wire, but had to withstand a furious charge Monday from Calgary's Scott Desmarais to repeat as the men's champion of the 71st International Labor Day Golf Tournament at Buffalo Hill Golf Club.

Iverson finished with a 7-under-par total of 207 for the 3-day tournament, which included a 4-under-par 66 on the first day and a solid bogey-free 68 on Monday.

His Monday round included birdies on No. 1, 11, 13 and 15. He took a 6-stroke lead over Desmarais into the final round, but saw the lead slip to one stroke on the back nine.

Desmarais shot an 8-under-par 64 on Monday, which included four birdies on the front nine and two eagles and a birdie on the back nine. He was within one stroke after his eagle on No. 15, but dropped a stroke to par on the 17th hole.

On the women's side, Calgary's Gaylene Donald won her record-setting 15th crown.

Her 3-day total of 241 was six strokes in front of Kalispell teenager Karli Aurich. Former champion Debbie Boreson finished another stroke back.

Aurich teamed with another Kalispell teen, Grahm Schmaltz, to win the mixed derby on Sunday. Aurich made a clutch putt on the final hole to force a chipoff, where Schmaltz edged out Frank Sutton of Calgary and his partner Cathy Schafer of Washougal, Wash. Jack Schafer of Washougal and Donald finished third in the derby.
