EUREKA - Sweet, sweet revenge.

The Eureka Lions gained 400 yards on the ground and avenged a 2007 first-round playoff loss with a 48-0 thumping of visiting Deer Lodge on Friday.

It was the Class B opener for both teams.

Dalton Williams gained 183 yards and scored two touchdowns on 15 carries. Backfield mate Chad Price had 16 carries for 144 yards and scored three times.

"It was a great win, a total team effort. We ran well and we played great defense," said Eureka coach Ed Newell.

"Our line paved the way and they did an outstanding job." Eureka took the opening kickoff and drove 68 yards on nine plays. The Lions defense got a stop on the Wardens first drive, and the Lions drove in for a second score.

Ben Dechart recorded 19 tackles, a sack and forced a fumble for Eureka.
