Bravettes, Bruins battle to a scoreless soccer tie

| September 7, 2008 1:00 AM

The Daily Inter Lake

HELENA - Flathead and Helena Capital had chances to score, but the Bravettes and Bruins settled for a scoreless tie Saturday.

Flathead had three shots on goal in the girls' soccer match to Capital's 15.

"Helena put a lot of pressure on us offensively," Flathead coach Scott Warnell said.

"We had a hard time getting the ball out of the midfield. We had some opportunities with those three (shots), we just didn't connect."

It was the second outing in Western AA play for FHS. The Bravettes opened the season with a 4-2 victory over Missoula Hellgate earlier in the week.

"Our defense stepped up and played very well," Warnell said.

"The shots Helena did get were all contested by our defense. They had a hard time getting a quality look on goal."
