Charlebois scores 5 goals as Valkyries crush Broncs

BIGFORK - Caitlin Charlebois scored five goals and Quinci Payne scored three and assisted on another as the Bigfork Vals dropped visiting Frenchtown 9-0 in a Class A nonconference soccer match on Saturday.

"We came out strong with the starters and they played hard. Everybody was able to play, which was nice," said Bigfork coach Hauna Trenerry.

"They made good passes and they worked on crossing and getting the balls in.

"They did a good job of playing the entire game and it was nice to have other people play," she added.

Bigfork, (1-3, 0-1) will play host to Stevenville at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

HAMILTON - It wasn't as bad as the score indicated.

Hamilton scored twice in both halves, handing Whitefish a setback in Class A girls' nonconference play.

"Not a good result, but we feel pretty good about the game," WHS coach Lini Reading said.

"We see where we need the improvement. The girls worked hard all over the field."

Reading said the Bulldogs hit the post three times. They outshot Hamilton on goal, 15-9.

"Their keeper did a great job," Reading said.

"We have to find ways to finish."

Kelsey McCluskey had the lone goal for Whitefish. She scored on a free kick at 57 minutes.

Whitefish (3-2-0) hosts Polson on Tuesday in a Northern A match.

Belgrade had 22 shots on goal to Polson's 3.

Jacie Morrison had 11 goalie saves for Polson.

Belgrade's starters did not play during the first 23 minutes. The coached rested them after a physical 2-1 loss to Billings Central the night before.

Polson lost to Livingston 2-1 on Friday.

BELGRADE - Sean Hart and Steven Roberts each scored goals in the first 14 minutes of play as Polson rolled to an easy victory.

Ben Messer, who assisted on Hart's goal at six minutes, scored the other two goals. One came on a direct kick at 38 minutes.

On Friday, Livingston defeated visiting Polson 5-0.

LIBBY - Three different Libby players scored in a Class A nonconference victory.

Carl Berke scored twice, 16 and 65 minutes, while Levi Myslicki and Cree Maloney both scored once.

Evan May assisted on two of the goals.

"Evan May, didn't score, but his play at center-mid was outstanding," Libby coach Charlie Webster said.

"He draws a lot of attention. That opens things up for the other players."

Malone and Berke lead the team in scoring for the season with four goals each.

Libby, 4-1, plays at Polson on Saturday, 3 p.m., in a Northern A match.
