A woman's attempt to rescue a cat from a tree backfired. Luckily, Evergreen firefighters were able to help both female and feline safely to the ground Saturday afternoon.

Flathead County sheriff

Flathead County Sheriff's deputies arrested an intoxicated man who reportedly beat up his significant other Friday evening.

A Columbia Falls neighbor dispute escalated when one neighbor installed a gate on an easement between the feuding neighbors' properties.

Drugs reported in Hungry Horse turned out to be baking powder.

A caller saw someone dump at least three dead fawns on Bachelor Grade Road. The case was turned over to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Frozen food, a floor jack and a stereo were stolen from a house on East Reserve Drive.

A man accused a neighboring camper of threatening his nephew at Doris Creek Campground.

A man was blamed when his stepdaughter shot out a pickup window with a BB gun.

Someone broke into a building at the Blacktail Mountain ski resort.

Deputies arrested the intoxicated young man who rolled his vehicle on Whalebone Drive on Friday night.

A man reportedly called his girlfriend and threatened to kill her, then showed up at her house and threatened to burn it down. He left without torching the place, and deputies found his vehicle on KM Ranch Road. After a foot pursuit, deputies arrested the man.

Someone tried to use a woman's stolen credit card at an area box store.

Deputies received 178 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kalispell police

A Kalispell police officer gave the man hiding in the bushes outside an East Idaho restaurant a ride to a box store in Evergreen.

The man with the metal detector filled in the holes he'd dug at the Linderman Education Center and went on his way.

Police arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of his fifth drunken-driving offense. He also was ticketed with driving with an open container and driving with a suspended license.

A man said his girlfriend's mother, who has threatened to harm and/or kill him, was following him. An officer counseled the man, the mother and her daughter; the woman agreed to leave her daughter alone.

About 10 people reportedly were involved in a bar fight on Meridian Road. Police arrested three of them on warrants. One person involved went to the hospital.

A child's bike, complete with training wheels and valued at $189, was stolen on Hawthorne Avenue.

Officers received 94 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police are investigating a reported theft from a vehicle parked on U.S. 2.

Teenagers reportedly caused problems Friday afternoon behind a grocery store, where youths yelled and cursed at people, and on Crescent Circle, where teens were running through yards.

Police received 34 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police received 51 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Alarms

A girl, who had no pants and complained her side hurt, appeared on a Bernard Road resident's doorstep early Saturday morning. Evergreen ambulance took her to the hospital.

The Smith Valley Fire Department put out a fire on Wettington Drive. Later, a resident on that road accused a firefighter of intentionally trying to run over a 56-year-old man.

Three Rivers EMS took two people to the hospital after a motorcycle T-boned a vehicle on U.S. 2 in Coram. Three Rivers EMS also transported a boy who reportedly was bleeding from the eyes after a bicycle accident on U.S. 2 in Columbia Falls.
