David Christian Krabill, 88

David Christian Krabill, 88, passed away Sept. 23, 2008, in Albany, Ore. He was born in Albany on Oct. 3, 1919, to Sarah (Kennel) and John Krabill, the second of three children. He grew up in the Albany area.

On May 16, 1943, David married Mary Gerig. He lived in Cascade Locks, Ore., and after marriage they lived in Stockton, Calif., during the time David spent in civilian public service. They returned to the Griggs area to live and raise their family. The family also lived in the Shedd, Albany, and Lebanon, Ore., areas.

David was a devoted husband and father, and was a dedicated Christian.

David farmed for a good part of his life. He was ingenious when it came to 'making do' or solving a problem, whether it was on the farm or in the workshop. He also worked as a millwright in Albany, where he was greatly appreciated by his co-workers.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retiring, David and Mary did some traveling and spent winters in Arizona for several years before moving back to Shedd.

Surviving are eight children, Ron and Louise Krabill of Halsey, Ore., Barbara and Stan Troyer of Brownsville, Ore., Dennis and Becky Krabill of Kalispell, Leonard and Kris Krabill of Lebanon, Arlen and Sharon Krabill of Brownsville, Richard and Sandy Krabill of Shedd, Brenda and Russell Gerig of Lebanon, and Brian and Hope Krabill of Shedd; 42 grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 26 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 25 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; a sister, Bertha Kropf; and a brother, Kenneth Krabill.

Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 25, at Fisher Funeral Home in Albany. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Fairview Mennonite Church, with Clarence Gerig officiating.
