Costumed knife-wielder at large

An unknown person wearing a Scream costume ran when a man approached around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The subject, clothed in a black robe and white mask, was also apparently carrying a knife with a six- or seven-inch blade, though whether or not it was also simply part of a costume was unknown. Although Kalispell Police searched the Seventh Avenue West area where the horror-costumed suspect was last seen, they did not locate the masked menace.

Two teens were apparently seen passing a bong back and forth between them as they drove a blue Dodge truck through town Tuesday afternoon. When officers pulled over the vehicle, they determined that the 18-year-old was in possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of dangerous drugs, and arrested him. The other boy, 16, was not arrested.

Officers were alerted to the supposedly suspicious young boy pulling a rolling suitcase behind him, followed by another young boy on a bike. They were southbound on U.S. 93 when officers caught up to them soon after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Officers learned they were brothers who were just on their way home. And the suspect case only contained drums.

Two 14-year-old girls allegedly stole a necklace and three rings from a store on Center Street around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

A black Trek 18-speed mountain bike worth $400 was stolen from a Ridgeview Drive yard sometime in the past few days. There are no suspects.

Two girls apparently jumping into traffic near the underpass were gone when officers arrived around noon Wednesday.

Officers received 70 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Three Martin City youths threw liquid fuel on a Fourth Street South porch and lit it on fire, a resident told Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday afternoon. Deputies are investigating.

Stopped for a red light at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Montana 40 around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a woman was dismayed when the vehicle behind tapped her bumper three times, as if to push her through. When the light turned green, the offending vehicle went around hers and sped off, the woman told Columbia Falls Police. The suspect vehicle has not been located.

A girl apparently punched another girl in the face during a fight at a Columbia Falls school Tuesday afternoon. They were already separated when officers arrived. Officers are investigating.

Whitefish Police received 13 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Somehow, a 911 call from Fairview, N.D., came through the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office dispatch.

A Fairview woman was having breathing problems, but her son was notified and took care of her around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman in her 40s who was gasping for breath at a Second Avenue West business was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
