Therese Anna Marie Drent, 84

Therese Anna Marie Drent, 84, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010, at her home in Kalispell. She was born on April 16, 1925, in Zevenbergen, Holland, to Jacobus and Adriana (deRond) VanAken. Therese married Pieter Drent on April 9, 1949, and immigrated to America, arriving on the Queen Elizabeth cruise liner. From New York, they moved to Whitefish, and worked at the VanAken Gardens. Therese devoted her time to raising five children. In 1963, they purchased the Holland Nursery in Evergreen, and in 1968, purchased and operated Flowers By Hansen. Therese ran the flower shop for 22 years before retiring. During that time she was proud to have served as the president of the Montana Florist Association. Therese enjoyed gardening, reading and many different needle crafts. She was also a longtime member of St. Matthew s Catholic Church. Therese was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her four daughters, Jane Patterson and husband, Bruce, of Polson, Marilyn Brady and husband, Dick, of Kalispell, Wilma Drent of New Orleans, and Renee Funk and husband, Robin, of Kalispell; one son, Steven Drent, of Kalispell; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Graveside services for Therese will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, at Glacier Memorial Gardens, with Father Vic Langhans of St. Matthew s Catholic Church officiating.
