A tale of road rage, pepper spray, and a car chase

After being stung by pepper spray, a man chased a Cadillac through Kalispell in his wine-colored Chevy around 1 p.m. Tuesday, before calling Kalispell Police when the vehicle finally pulled over. The spraying apparently resulted from a road-rage incident when the two were cutting each other off and flipping each other off. When the victim approached the other man’s vehicle, the man apparently pepper-sprayed him, then took off and a chase ensued. Officers are investigating.

Two teens attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at a North Main jewelry store Monday afternoon, but were gone when officers arrived.

A man told officers his ex-girlfriend apparently hit him in the head with a perfume bottle at a Two Mile Drive residence around noon Tuesday.

Officers received 61 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies located a 10-year-old child in Lions Park around 8:30 p.m. The child had been reported missing from a West Evergreen Drive residence two hours earlier.

A yellow, non-running moped was reported stolen from a Spotted Bear Road residence around 5 p.m. Monday.

Multiple people were spotted shooting, possibly at beavers, along Swan Horseshoe Road at 10:20 p.m. Monday.

A man attempted to pick up a welding unit at a Rose Crossing residence Tuesday mornings, but the resident apparently wouldn’t give it back. A pistol was apparently brandished at some point during the dispute, but no shots were fired and no citations were issued.

Deputies received 140 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A case of Christian CDs was stolen from a vehicle parked on Eleventh Street West Tuesday morning, according to Columbia Falls Police.

An officer was investigating an incident involving drug paraphernalia at the junior high Tuesday afternoon.

Officers received 16 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Whitefish Police received 14 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Alarms

A 32-year-old man accidentally shot himself as he field-stripped a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson at his North Somers Road residence around 11 p.m. Monday. The gun went off, sending a bullet through his thigh. He was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

A fire inside a vehicle parked on Fourth Avenue East was soon out Monday afternoon. A cigarette possibly set the backseat on fire.
