Weather disrupts sports schedule

High school spring sports took a backseat to winter-like weather on Tuesday as a track meet, several softball games and a crosstown tennis match were all postponed.

An eight-team invitational track meet billed as the Class A Invite at Legends Stadium was called off because of snow. Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Eureka, Flathead, Glacier, Libby, Polson and Whitefish were all scheduled to attend that event.

School officials are attempting to reschedule the meet.

Flathead and Glacier softball outings in Missoula were postponed because of snow and wet grounds. Weather permitting, Flathead and Glacier will play those Western AA games today in Missoula versus Missoula Sentinel and Big Sky at 2:30 and 5 p.m.

Two Northwestern A softball games — Polson at Columbia Falls and Ronan at Libby — were also canceled. No rescheduled date has been announced for either game.

In tennis, the first matchup of the season at Flathead Valley Community College between Flathead and Glacier was postponed. A rescheduled date has not yet been set.

Weather permitting, here is a look ahead at Thursday’s schedule: softball — Columbia Falls at Eureka (3:30 p.m.) and Hamilton at Polson (5 p.m.); tennis — Polson at Columbia Falls (2 p.m.) and Libby at Whitefish (3 p.m.); track — Eureka at Thompson Falls (noon); and golf — Bigfork Invitational (10 a.m.).
