Machete-wielding woman walks

Holding a machete, a woman was seen walking along First Avenue South, mumbling to herself around 8:30 p.m. Friday. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies spoke with the now-machete-less woman, who said she frequently walks in the area and carries the weapon for protection.

Young kids were apparently trying to start a fire in a Ridgewood Drive mobile home park around 5:30 p.m. Friday. Deputies are leaving any disciplinary action up to a parent.

Eight-to-10 cast iron toy cars, valued at $250, were stolen from a Ferndale Drive property Friday night.

Deputies were called after a newer Dodge truck sped past a bar on Montana 206 at roughly 110 mph around 10 p.m. Friday. Both men inside the truck were arrested without incident, one for DUI and the other on a warrant.

After finding a car stopped in the middle of Somers Road, deputies released the driver to his father around 5 a.m. Saturday. The car was towed.

A motorist canceled an unsafe driving complaint Saturday afternoon after realizing the vehicle crawling along U.S. 2 was driven by an older man.

Deputies received 169 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Around 11 a.m. Saturday, people appeared to be having intercourse inside a green and white truck parked along Eighth Avenue West North. Kalispell Police counseled them about their conduct.

A former employee apparently called a hotel on North Main Friday afternoon, saying “they would be sorry.” Officers offered advice.

Around 7 p.m. Friday, a Fifth Avenue West residence discovered 15 fentanyl patches and 14 syringes were stolen.

Officers were unable to locate the two men seen smoking marijuana near a pizza place on Second Street West late Friday night.

A man was cited for disorderly conduct after he apparently urinated in the parking lot of a bar on Second Street East around midnight Friday. Officers took his keys and advised the man to pick them up when sober.

Tenants at a Two Mile Drive apartment complex were seen moving two marijuana plants from one apartment to another at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. They were gone when officers arrived.

A man wearing dark clothing apparently fell in a parking lot along Second Avenue East, where he lay for a long time, yelling profanities. He then got up and stumbled away. Officers later located him lying in the front yard of a Third Avenue East residence and released him to a friend.

A television was stolen from a West Wyoming residence sometime Friday night. Officers are investigating.

After people apparently filled a woman’s dumpster with their garbage, she retrieved a piece of garbage with their phone number on it and called the offenders. Officers counseled her.

Officers received 73 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Walking along U.S. 93, an apparently intoxicated man called Whitefish Police when he couldn’t find his car around 5 a.m. Saturday. Officers asked him to call back when sober.

Officers received 20 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Columbia Falls Police received 25 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Alarms

A possibly intoxicated woman in her late 30s was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center after her minivan collided with a tree along Anderson Lane around 2 p.m. Saturday.

In the Rhodes Draw area around 1:40 a.m. Saturday, a woman with possibly broken legs was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center after she was thrown from a vehicle as it rolled onto its top.

Whitefish Fire extinguished a half-acre fire between a pond and a field near Hodgson Road around 1 p.m. Saturday.
