Early voting for the June 8 primary election is less than three weeks away.

Flathead County begins absentee voting on May 10.

Applications for absentee ballots can be downloaded from the Election Department section of the county website, at http://flathead.mt.gov/election. Voters who are unable to print the application can contact the election office by mail, phone, fax or in person to request an application.

The Election Department is located in the old courthouse building at 800 S. Main in Kalispell.

Absentee ballots will be available until noon on June 7 and must be returned by the time the polls close at 8 p.m. on June 8.

Early voting has become increasingly popular in Flathead County.

In the June 2008 primary, 37 percent of the votes cast were by absentee ballots. For the November 2008 general election, 44 percent of votes were absentee.

For more voting information, check the Election Department website at http://flathead.mt.gov/election/voter_information.php or call 758-5535.

The election office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
