POLSON — Riley Kenney broke out of a hitting slump by going 3-for-4 and driving in three runs as Polson whipped rival Ronan 9-1 in Northwestern A softball play on Tuesday.

“She did a great job (at the plate) and running the bases,” Polson coach Larry Smith said.

“It was nice to see her coming out of her slump, hitting the ball timely with people in front of her. She also made a beautiful diving catch on a pop fly sliding into the third base dugout wall. She took a little skin off her arm.”

The third baseman had one of the team’s two extra base hits with a double. Staci Benson belted a triple.

Polson slapped 11 hits in the contest and did the bulk of its scoring early with seven runs in the first three innings.

Benson, Kodi Woods and Kayla Duford, the first three hitters in the lineup, all had two hits each.

Polson, 4-0 overall and 2-0 league, hosts Whitefish on Thursday, 5 p.m.
