FRENCHTOWN — Polson scored six runs in the first inning en route to a 11-0 victory over Anaconda on Friday during first-day action at the Frenchtown Tournament.

The Pirates, 6-0 on the softball season, sent 10 batters to the plate in that inning. Clean-up hitter Riley Kenney doubled in the first two runs to start the rally.

Polson added three more runs in the second inning and two in the third.

“A very clean defensive game,” Polson coach Larry Smith said. “We didn’t strike that many out. They put the bat on the ball and we made some great defensive plays.”

Polson had no errors.

Shalaina Duford, 2-for-2, led the Pirates in RBIs with three. Kayla Duford and Sallie Sams also had two hits each.

Polson plays Butte Central at 9:30 a.m. and Loyola Sacred Heart at 1 p.m. today in final tournament action.
