Teen drives too close to river

Responding to a report of a red Jeep being driven near the Flathead River at the Old Steel Bridge crossing Sunday, Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies ended up arresting a boy, 19, for driving below the high water mark, obstructing a peace officer and criminal contempt.

There was a report of unsafe shooting at the Emery Creek Campground on Hungry Horse Reservoir. A responding deputy found a party instead, and arrested two men, ages 29 and 24, on warrants.

A 47-year-old man who went to visit someone at the Flathead County jail ended up getting arrested on a bad check warrant.

There was a report of someone drinking outside a bar on Montana 35 and refusing to leave. He ended up leaving.

There was a report of a suspicious vehicle on Spring Prairie Road near Whitefish. An investigating deputy found two people who were stargazing and “waiting for the shuttle to go over the moon.”

There was a report of a woman suffering a leg injury on Third Avenue in Martin City. It turned out to be an intoxicated woman who had somehow been jabbed in the leg by a wire.

Deputies were unable to locate a 9-year-old boy who was reportedly begging for money near a bar on U.S. 2 west of Columbia Falls.

Early Monday, a resident on First Avenue East in Martin City reported that objects were being thrown at the house.

A resident on North Hilltop Road near Columbia Falls reported that someone was banging on the door.

A property owner on Browns Meadow Road in the Kila area reported that over the last few months, numerous trees had been felled and stolen from the property, where there has been ongoing trespassing problems.

A Braig Lane resident reported that shortly after his father had surgery, one of his friends stole prescription medicines from the house.

A Shady Lane resident reported that the neighbor’s kids have been driving by too fast and making obscene gestures at him. A deputy spoke with the kids.

There was a report of a stray donkey on Lake Blaine Road in the Creston area. It could not be determined who the donkey belonged to so it was put in a fenced area for the time being.

A window was shot with a BB gun at a day care on Wisconsin Avenue in Whitefish.

There was a report of items being stolen from sheds on White Birch Lane in the Kalispell area.

Sheriff’s dispatch had 264 log entries between 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Kalispell Police got a report of a person drinking and refusing to leave an area on West Railroad Street. The man was told to leave.

A person made a harassment report involving a dispute with a neighbor over parking in the area of the 1700 block of Third Avenue East.

A person made a decay ordinance complaint, involving an abandoned structure on the 100 block of First Avenue East North. The city attorney is investigating the matter.

There were 49 log entries between 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Monday.
