Semi collision claims life on MT 28

A semi vs semi truck collision has claimed a life, authorities say. The collision occurred along Montana 28 near mile marker 30.3 in the Lone Pine construction zone around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Only the southbound lane was partially blocked, with traffic control help from construction crews. The Montana Highway Patrol, Hot Springs Fire Department and Hot Springs Ambulance were on scene.

After hearing what sounded like people in the backyard of an East California residence around 1 a.m. Tuesday, then seeing them jump the fence, a worried resident called Kalispell Police. Officers were unable to locate any suspicious persons in the area, but did note there were deer grazing nearby.

The skateboarder near the intersection of Main and Second Street was warned Monday evening.

A transient seen going through the garbage of a Second Street West residence was gone when police arrived around 7 p.m. Monday.

The person thought to be living in a yellow car parked near the intersection of Second Avenue East and Fifth Street was told to move on around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Officers received 56 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

About 25 packages of half-smoked cigarettes wrapped in aluminum foil were found along Blanchard Lake Drive around 8 p.m. Monday, according to Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies counseled a woman about her 11-year-old son who was reportedly punching a chair and yelling at a Shady Lane residence Monday afternoon.

Prescription drugs and mail were reportedly stolen from a vehicle as it was parked in the lot of a box store off U.S. 2 East Monday evening.

A 41-year-old man, carrying beer, was apparently trying to enter a Park Street house against the resident’s wishes around 5 p.m. Monday. He apparently is an ex-friend. 

A former employee of a Bigfork restaurant is accusing her boss of sexual harassment. Deputies are investigating.

Pulling a knife Monday night, a Cobbler Village Road resident apparently threatened to hurt a child. Deputies are investigating.

After returning from out-of-state Monday night, a Buckboard Lane resident noticed a jar of pennies and a purse containing money were missing from the residence.

A man and his son-in-law were engaged in a physical disturbance at a Blanchard Lake Road residence a little after 10 p.m. Monday.

After a Lore Lake Drive resident received numerous calls from a Texas prison, deputies determined it must be a routing problem with the phone.

Spotting Facebook photos of a Swan River student engaged in what appeared to be illegal activity, the principal called deputies.

Deputies received 130 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Whitefish Police received 22 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Columbia Falls Police received 12 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A squirrel apparently caused the brief power outage along First Avenue West and Main, causing downtown traffic lights to blink yellow for a time around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to Kalispell Police. Lights were soon repaired by Flathead Electric.
