Russell Scott Russ Norton, 43, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell, with his loving family at his bedside. He was born on May 25,1966, in Kalispell, the son of George and Romona (Bartel) Norton. Russell attended Flathead High School and received his diploma in 1984. He served for a brief period of time in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and returned to civilian life in Kalispell. Russ worked on Christmas tree farms for a number of years and later had his own business, Norton Contractors. He was affectionately called Fluffy during his childhood and the name stuck with him into his early adult life. Russ spent many fun-filled hours with his brother, sisters, nieces and nephews, enjoying the carefree days of childhood. He also enjoyed swimming with his friends in the Stillwater River on hot summer days and ice skating on the pond in the winter. Russell loved family picnics out in the country, swimming, hunting, fishing, camping and sitting around the campfire visiting. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; three nephews; and his best friends, Steve Adkins and Daren Corrigeaux. He is survived by his brothers, Douglas Williams and wife Bobbi, Wayne Williams and wife Emily, and Harvey Norton; his sisters, Audrey Flansaas and husband Dean, Geraldine Smith, Sharon Jordt and husband Kevin, and Donna Bear and husband Mike. He is also survived by his very special nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Graveside services for Russ will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Glacier Memorial Gardens with Pastor Tim Bartholomew of Stillwater Lutheran Church officiating. An old-fashioned potluck reception will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Hampton Inn, 1140 U.S. 2 West. All are welcome to attend. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for Russ family.
