Florence Russell, 88

Florence Russell, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Brendan House in Kalispell. Florence was born on Feb. 19, 1922, in Lynn, Mass., to Joseph and Kamila (Toczylowski) Walendowicz. She was raised in Massachusetts, where she attended schools, learning hair dressing and cosmetology. Florence married Herbert Russell in 1942. She worked for years as a cosmetologist and hairdresser. She was president of Image Art 3, a family business specializing in jewelry and craft creations. Florence worked as a Kalispell Regional Medical Center volunteer for many years. She was on several committees at Risen Christ Catholic Parish. She enjoyed decorating the church and caring for the greenery, as well as hosting prayer groups. She loved camping, traveling, cooking, rug hooking, knitting, and just making people happy. She was an excellent cook. Her biggest interest was being a wife and fun partner to her husband Herbie. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Kamila and Joseph Walendowicz; and two sisters, Sabina and Anatasia. She is survived by her husband, Herbert Russell; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ron Holden, of Missoula; daughter and son-in-law, Camille and Ron Scott, of Forks, Wash.; and granddaughter, Kacey Scott, and Aaron Gibson of Kalispell. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today, Dec. 3, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at St. Matthew s Catholic Church in Kalispell.
