Amy Marie Wilbur, 26

| December 8, 2010 2:00 AM

Amy was born Jan. 31, 1984, at Providence St. Vincent Hospital, Portland, and died on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital in Libby, due to complications associated with a five-year battle with double kidney failure. Amy was 26 years old.

Amy was a special needs child from birth and was loved by everyone who knew her. She touched the lives of everyone she met in a very special way. Amy was fun, cheerful, loving, tough, and had an infectious laugh. Constantly in pain, she always handled her challenges with strength, determination and a positive attitude; and was always a major inspiration to everyone.

Amy attended special education schools in Montana at Columbia Falls Elementary, Whitefish Middle School, and finally graduated from Flathead High School’s “All Star” room. She had many friends there, and loved every minute of it.

Her final home was at Flower Creek Group Home in Libby, where she loved everyone who cared for her.

She worked occasionally at Flathead Industries in Kalispell, and then at Achievements Thrift Store in Libby.

She loved God, people, the outdoors, orca whales, George Strait, Michael Landon, and table games — especially Yahtzee.

She always looked forward to going to heaven where there’s “No more pain.”

Amy was born to mother Laurel Sumner, with stepfather Gary of Kalispell, and father, Marvin Wilbur, of Spokane. Amy’s three beautiful sisters also survive her, Christina Wilbur-Linnaflata, 28, and husband, Kyree’, of Norway; Heather Wilbur-Holloway, 24, and husband, Josh, of Kalispell; and Elisa Wilbur, 4, of Spokane. Amy’s grandparents are Tonja and Shane Skriiko of Colorado Springs, Colo., Barbara and Allen Huey of Sandy, Ore., and Kennith Wilbur of Cloverdale, Ore.

A memorial service is being held in Kalispell at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, at the Kalispell Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Memorial donations, cards and written memorials for her memorial scrapbook can be sent to: “In care of Amy Wilbur,” 115 Homestead Road, Kalispell MT 59901.

Services are provided by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home, Libby.

The family lovingly wants to thank all of Amy’s former church and school teachers, Flathead Industries, Achievements Thrift Store, all her friends at Flower Creek Group Home and Montana Group Home, as well as all the many loving caregivers and friends who helped make Amy’s life here more pleasant. We honestly love you all.
