Phyllis Virginia Mitchell, 74

Our loving and much-loved mom, Phyllis Virginia Mitchell, passed away the evening of Dec. 4, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula.  

Mom was born on May 21, 1936, in Baltimore, to Robert Groshans and Helen Wirth Groshans.

She will be remembered as a loving and caring mom, a gifted teacher, a hardworking and dedicated librarian, a creative and talented cook, and a lover of reading, travelling, and her cats, George, Silky and Doodle.

Following visits by loving and treasured friends, Mom died peacefully, with her son, Jason, and her former husband, Bob, at her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her younger son, Ian Mitchell.

She is survived by her older son, Jason Mitchell, of Las Vegas, and her former husband, Bob Mitchell, of Anchorage.

Memorial donations may be given to Animeals Animal Shelter, 1700 Rankin Street; the Missoula Public Library, 301 E. Main Street; or to the Ian Mitchell Memorial Library Fund of Sussex School, 1800 S. Second Street W., all in Missoula.

Arrangements for a celebration of her life are being finalized and will be announced.
