Columbia Falls High School’s speech and debate team cleaned up at this weekend’s Whitefish Speech, Debate and Drama Tournament.

More than 250 entries from 10 schools competed in the meet. Columbia Falls finished the weekend with 120 points and the first-place Class A finish. Polson and Whitefish came in second and third, respectively, at the tournament.

“It was truly a team effort with 22 competitors in finals, four first-place finishes and debaters in the final round of both [Lincoln-Douglas] and [Policy Debate],” Columbia Falls head coach Tara Norick said. “The group is really coming together to work as a team and perform well. We are still working on having strong performances in finals.”

Bigfork and Loyola Sacred Heart High School from Missoula were the only Class B schools at the meet. Bigfork came in second in speech but took first in drama; Loyola does not compete in drama events. Overall, Bigfork came in third in drama events, behind Class A schools Ronan and Libby.
