Sheila Couper Buck, 86

Sheila Couper Buck, 86, passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Heritage Place in Kalispell.

She was born near Glasglow, Scotland, on Feb. 25, 1924, to James and Margaret Couper. On Oct. 2, 1945, she was married in Bath, England, to Staff Sgt. Russell Buck of Creston.

She taught at Whitefish High School and spent her retirement years with her husband traveling to England, Scotland and New Zealand. They wintered in Overton, Nev., for many years.

She volunteered at the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, Heritage Place and for the literacy group.

Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Buck, in 1994; two brothers; one sister; and her grandson, Peter Van Aken, in 2001.

She is survived  by two daughters, Della Van Aken and Margaret Borden; special niece, Sheila Knostman; four grandchildren, Kris Fouts, Kim Cummins, Ed Knapton and Michelle Van Aken; three great-grandchildren; brother, Alistair Couper; and many nieces and nephews in Canada, the U.K. and the U.S.A.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sheila’s behalf to the Flathead County Library.
