MatCats Buzz Lucey champs

EUREKA - Columbia Falls had three champions and five third-place winners on Saturday as it cruised to the team title at the Buzz Lucey Memorial Wrestling Tournament in Eureka.

Harland Jordan (98), Justin Whitman (125) and Kohl Thompson (140) were Columbia Falls' champions.

Other local winners were Dylan Moll, Polson (105), Nikko Bakkila, Eureka (112), Colton Lenz, Polson (145), Robin Kyes, Libby, (152), Jake Tudahl, Glacier (160), Taylor Vaughn, Eureka (171) and Colin Gillard, Eureka (215).

The MatCats scored 203 points to easily outdistance second-place Frenchtown at 174. Host Eureka was third at 160, Libby fourth at 103, Polson JV fifth at 94.5 and Whitefish sixth at 72. Glacier JV and Flathead JV scored 59 and 37 points, respectively.

Vaughn (171) was voted the meet's most outstanding wrestler by the coaches. The Eureka standout pinned every opponent he faced.

The officials voted Adam Brunner, Noxon, Marcelo Theodoro, Whitefish, Chad Branam, Columbia Falls, and Justin Whitman, Columbia Falls, as the wrestlers with the best sportsmanship.
