Deputies seek ax-wielding man

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who allegedly wielded an ax and displayed a firearm during an altercation outside a Somers bar Tuesday night.

Deputies responded to Del’s Bar on Somers Road after a witness reported the incident outside the business at about 8:30 p.m.

The man was gone when law enforcement arrived, Patrol Commander Geno Cook said Wednesday.

Cook said the man, who had been told by employees he was no longer allowed at the business, started an altercation with customers outside.

He allegedly retrieved an ax from his pickup truck and began waving it in the direction of others. No one was struck by the ax, but the man allegedly assaulted at least one person.

After scuffling with patrons, he allegedly put the ax back in the truck and came back with a firearm before running away.

Cook said the man, whose name has not been released, left his pickup truck at the business when he fled.
