A 28-year-old man arrested in Billings on Wednesday has been charged in Flathead County District Court with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent for alleged crimes involving minors.

Daniel Baier was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal’s Montana Violent Offender Task Force on a warrant and currently is being held in the Yellowstone County Detention Center awaiting an extradition hearing.

According to court documents, Baier is accused of having sexual contact with a 13-year-old Kalispell girl in 2006 and a 15-year-old girl in May of this year.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office filed the charges on Dec. 16, prompting District Judge Katherine Curtis to sign off on a bench warrant for his arrest.

The allegations were reported to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 5.

Both victims detailed the alleged sexual contact in interviews with a detective, according to court records.

Each of the charges carries a maximum penalty of 100 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Baier’s bail has been set at $50,000.
