Area wrestlers ranked in all-class poll

Connor Thomas of Flathead is the top-ranked heavyweight in the first All-Class High School Wrestling Poll released this season by the law firm of Hoyt and Blewett PLLC in Great Falls.

The poll is based on voting by Montana's high school coaches and features wrestlers from all three classes - AA, A and B-C.

Class B-C has the most wrestlers ranked No. 1 with seven. Five AA wrestlers are top ranked in their weight classes and A has three.

Great Falls High (Josh Morin at 135 and Dylan Mendenhall at 145) and Chinook (Ben Stroh at 189 and Jorrell Jones at 215) both have two wrestlers ranked No. 1.

Flathead has three other wrestlers ranked - Larry Francis is second at 160, Steel Hahn is fifth at 152 and Caleb Piasecki is sixth at 119.

Glacier has one grappler in the rankings - Kaleb Mitchell is listed third at 105.

Libby (Kyle Leir, second at 140, and Kody Berget, fifth at 189), Polson (Craig Feistner, sixth at 112, and Josiah Clairmont, fourth at heavyweight) and Ronan (Cole Mcarthur, sixth at 160, and Toby Cheff, second at 189) have two wrestlers each in the rankings.

Eureka's Taylor Vaughn is ranked No. 2 at 171 and Justin Whitman of Columbia Falls is ranked fourth at 125.

No local wrestlers made the rankings in four - 98, 130, 145 and 215 - of the 15 weight classes.
