| December 28, 2010 2:00 AM

Christine “Chris” Ann Rupp, 59, “was called home” on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, after a long battle with illness, surrounded by her family, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell.

She was born on June 22, 1951, in Chicago, to Bill and Erma (Nuss) Rocksund.

Chris moved to Whitefish as a child. She attended Whitefish High School and was involved in an assortment of different activities, such as cheerleading, skiing, swimming, track, fishing and working on the family farm.

She loved life and after high school worked at North Valley Hospital taking care of patients. She soon determined that she wanted to do more for her patients, so she went to college and became a registered nurse. Chris then worked as a registered nurse for more than 30 years at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, Virginia Mason Hospital in Washington, and Curry General Hospital and Curry County Home Health and Hospice in Oregon. Her life was dedicated to helping people.

Chris loved to hang out with her family and friends and she always made them feel loved. Two of her favorite activities were garage sale-ing and shopping on QVC.

Chris was preceded in death by Erma Rocksund, Erick Rocksund, and daughter Courtney Rupp.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Rupp; two sons, Rich Torgison and wife Cissy, and Mike Torgison and wife Teresa; daughter, Lyndsay Boyles, and husband, Caleb; grandchildren, Tosh, Aspen, Charlee, Loren Torgison, Tyler, Conner and Chloe Boyles; two sisters, Jillian Sigler and husband Kurt, and Carrie Stringer and husband, Shannon; one brother, Norman Rocksund, and wife, Debbie; and her father, Bill Rocksund, and his wife, Marcie.

A celebration of Chris's life will be held at a later date.

Austin Funeral Home is caring for the family.
