Ethel Marie Hendrickson, 88

Ethel Marie Hendrickson, 88, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, in Spokane, where she had lived the past six years.

She was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Whitetail, Mont. She later moved at age 8 to Kalispell where she grew up on a fruit farm overlooking the Stillwater River and Rocky Mountains. She graduated from Flathead County High School.

She met her husband of 52 years, Lloyd Hendrickson, at a dance at the Marion Store and they were married four months later.

She enjoyed her family, the outdoors, homemaking, gardening and being of service at the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Evelyn Nyholm and Will of Spokane, and Harvey Hendrickson and Mary of Avon. Her grandchildren, Megan Granzyk and Steve of St. Charles, Ill., Mia Mason and Ron of Kirkland, Wash., Alissa Kunze and Clint of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Jessica Baker of Kalispell, Lannie Hendrickson of Bozeman, and Cody Hendrickson of Avon also survive her.   Ethel’s step-grandchildren are Amy Kirk, Andrea Branger and Eric, and Jesse Kirk and Jennifer. Ethel’s great-grandchildren are Kendra, Vincent, Payton, Addison, Rondo and Ella. Ethel’s step-great-grandchildren are Coral, John Roy and Corbin. Brothers-in-law, Don Swanberg and George Hendrickson, nieces Vivian Atkinson and Aurelia Craig, and nephew Steve Swanberg also survive Ethel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hendrickson; brother, Richard Mendenhall; sisters, Edna Mendenhall and Connie Swanberg; brother-in-law, Lawrence Hendrickson; and Lloyd’s young sister, Evelyn.

Visitation for Ethel will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
