Cane-wielding man makes threat

Flathead County sheriff

Using his cane, an elderly man was apparently threatening another passenger while on the train Wednesday around 9:16 p.m., according to a report made to Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies. The complaint was canceled later that night.

In a separate incident Wednesday night, a man and a woman reportedly got into an argument inside a car parked near the train depot. They were counseled.

A woman called authorities around 1 a.m. Thursday to report that her ex-husband’s new girlfriend apparently shot him with a 44-magnum. Arriving at the scene, deputies learned that the man’s injury appeared to be a graze wound. Deputies arrested both the 38-year-old man and his 38-year-old girlfriend for assault with a weapon. The matter is still under investigation. It is unclear if either had been drinking.

After noticing an open window around 4 p.m. Wednesday, a Whitefish Stage resident checked around the house and realized some paintings had been stolen.

Deputies were unable to locate the suspicious man apparently carrying a shotgun through Bigfork just before midnight Wednesday.

The suspicious male seen around 12:39 a.m. Thursday near a fast-food restaurant on U.S. 2 East turned out to be an employee waiting for a ride home.

It is unknown what was taken during the burglary of an office on Big Mountain.

Suspicious blood seen on a tarp near Forestry Expo grounds on Tamarack Road turned out to be from an animal.

Deputies received 131 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kalispell police

A cat belonging to a group home was attacked by a dog and is now in surgery, according to a call made Wednesday afternoon. Kalispell Police answered questions.

A suspicious vehicle apparently followed a man as he drove along Blue Crest Drive Wednesday afternoon.

A woman apparently entered the Seventh Avenue West residence of another woman and grabbed her kids Wednesday around 5 p.m. Both women were counseled.

Police were unable to locate the kids apparently left in a vehicle parked outside a grocery store on First Avenue EN Wednesday evening.

A suspicious man in a red car has parked in front of a North Meridian business for the last three nights around closing. Police learned the man is the after-hours cleaner.

Around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, unknowns tried to get into a woman’s Chevy Avalanche parked along Third Avenue West but the car’s alarm scared them off.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, a 30-year-old woman was arrested for her second DUI near a fast-food restaurant on East Idaho.

During a traffic stop along Airport Road around 10 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 46, was arrested for DUI and criminal endangerment.

Around 2:20 a.m. Thursday, a 25-year-old man was arrested for DUI during a traffic stop along Seventh Avenue East.

Officers received 74 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish Police received 17 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police

Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Columbia Falls Police arrested a juvenile at Columbia Falls Junior High School for possession of drug paraphernalia and being a minor in possession of tobacco.

Officers received 23 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

South Kalispell Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm going off around 9 p.m. Wednesday. None of the people at the Eagle Drive residence reportedly needed medical attention. The department cleared the scene after about 20 minutes.

Around 9:33 a.m., an ambulance responded to Glacier Gateway Elementary after a girl fainted. She was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Crackling sounds apparently coming from the chimney of a Summit Ridge Drive home Wednesday night were not from a fire.
