Not cruising for trouble; just 'surfing'

Kalispell police

A suspicious white van parked along East Idaho for a while around 10 p.m. Tuesday seemed worrisome. Upon arrival, officers learned the driver was using wireless Internet. The driver was advised by Kalispell Police of other spots from which to surf the web.

A garbage can was thrown at a car during an argument between a man and a woman outside a Bluestone Drive residence Tuesday night. The two were also apparently kicking each other’s vehicles and yelling.

A man who passed out on the front porch of an Eight Avenue East residence wearing a flannel shirt and baseball cap was advised Wednesday afternoon to move along or he would be cited for trespassing. The man, who had no identification, said he would head to a bar on First Avenue West.

Letting her animals out to use the bathroom around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, a woman noticed a strange man standing by the fence on her Seventh Avenue East residence. She told the man she could see him, but he apparently didn’t answer. When she told him she would call the police, the man told her he was just going for a walk. The woman told police she thinks the man “is up to no good.” Officers were unable to locate him.

A 19-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting from a grocery on Third Avenue East North Tuesday afternoon.

A Coot Court resident has apparently been harassing parks employees about tree trimming, according to a call at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

In a dispute between a man and his girlfriend Tuesday afternoon at a Fifth Avenue East residence, the woman was apparently pushed down and sustained a cut on her elbow. Officers are investigating.

A man was arrested for his second DUI and for not having insurance at a restaurant on East Idaho Tuesday night.

Officers received 77 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Flathead County sheriff

After his daughter told him about an incident when she and her friends were joking around with a gun, a father called Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday afternoon.

A customer at a business on U.S. 2 West near Columbia Falls apparently made off with a large amount of cash Tuesday afternoon. Deputies are investigating.

A man notified authorities after he was bitten twice by a dog in the Caroline Road area.

Deputies received 114 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish Police received 23 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Columbia Falls police

Two boys were apparently fighting at Columbia Falls Junior High around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Columbia Falls Police are investigating.

Officers arrested a teen for shoplifting from a gas station Wednesday around 12:30 p.m.

Officers received 25 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alarms

Someone spotted a bonfire burning on the ice of McWenneger Slough and was concerned for the ice fishermen’s safety around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Creston Fire department responded and determined that the small fire, which had been started by the fishermen, would not melt the ice enough to endanger them.

A man was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center after an assault at a lounge on Montana 35 during the early morning hours Wednesday.

An electrical smell and smoke were reportedly coming from the second floor of a church on Electric Avenue in Bigfork. Bigfork Fire Department investigated but didn’t find any problem.
