Flathead County sheriff

A four wheeler escaped after leading authorities in a half-hour long low-speed chase Monday night. The rouge off-roader had been spinning broadies in the parking lot of the Midway Mini Mart just before midnight when a Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy approached. But the vehicle took off before the deputy had time to talk with the driver. Traveling about 40 miles per hour, the yellow four-wheeler headed westbound on KM Ranch Road, then flipped a U-turn and headed in the opposite direction. The deputy lost the vehicle, which lacked license plates, in the Farm to Market area.

By 5 p.m. Monday, someone was fed up with the clanging bell at Somers Middle School. Apparently ringing since 8 a.m. on the school holiday, the bell was finally shut off by the principal.

The 21-year-old man booked into the Flathead County Detention Center Friday for walking on the roadway has been sentenced to a day of community service at the animal shelter.

Deputies received 115 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Kalispell police

Responding to a report of animal cruelty, Kalispell Police discovered a dog lying in a yard full of its own feces. The dog, which had cuts, possibly from the rope wrapped around its swollen leg, was taken to Central Valley Animal Hospital. The dog’s owner was counseled.

An Eighth Street East resident noticed the tires on her gray Buick Regal were slashed sometime Monday night. She told police about a suspect.

A witness in a stalking case is now apparently being stalked by the suspect, the witness reported to police Tuesday morning.
