Hot tub encounter a little too heated

Flathead County sheriff

A couple was getting too friendly in a hot tub, a resident at an apartment complex on West Reserve reported Wednesday night. The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office advised the caller to report the situation to the manager because it was “more of an internal issue.”

Holding a cane in one hand and a crutch in the other, a man was trying to hitchhike along U.S. 2 East around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday. The man apparently found a ride soon after.

A 14-year-old boy hid under a coffee table after pushing his grandmother and punching and kicking his mother at a Mountain Avenue residence Wednesday evening. He was taken to juvenile detention.

The windows of a suspicious van on Deer Trail were fogged and the property owner thought someone might be inside it Wednesday night. Deputies checked out the vehicle, which was abandoned. 

Twenty horses were running loose in the Helena Flats area around 4 a.m. Thursday.

A wad of cash amounting to approximately $200 was found near a gas station on Montana 35 around noon Thursday. The money was given to the clerk.

Despite posting “No Trespassing” signs around her Whitefish Stage Road property, a woman found several traps there around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies received 153 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kalispell police

A motorcyclist declined ambulance transport after colliding with a Subaru Forester Wednesday afternoon, according to Kalispell Police. The crash occurred after the vehicle apparently made a right turn into a driveway, crossing the path of the motorcyclist who was riding along the shoulder and apparently failed to stop in time. Both vehicles had been southbound on Airport Road.

A neighbor apparently continues to drive and park on a Vista Loop resident’s property. The resident told police he has tried to work the matter out, but the neighbor continues. Officers offered advice.

Two iPods and a bottle of white merlot were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on West Nicklaus Avenue. There are no suspects.

A woman was arrested for shoplifting a necklace from a mall accessories store Thursday afternoon.

The man sitting in the stairwell of a coffee shop on Main Street around midnight Wednesday was sent on his way.

Officers received 93 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls Police charged a 16-year-old for possessing drugs at Columbia Falls High School Wednesday afternoon.

Officers received 11 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish Police received 20 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

Standing in the entrance of a box store on U.S. 2 East, a 23-year-old man called a hotline to say he was upset, but calmed down after he said he smoked. He was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

A woman was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center as a precaution after she was in a single-vehicle rollover along U.S. 93 South near Somers Wednesday afternoon.

A car-sized boulder was reportedly in the southbound lane of U.S. 93 near mile marker 96 around 3:35 a.m. Thursday. The Montana Department of Transportation was dispatched to remove it.

A cable line fell across a power line along U.S. 2 West Thursday afternoon, igniting a small grass fire that was quickly put out by Smith Valley Fire Department.

A woman feeling faint at a department store on North Main Street was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Someone was transported with unknown injuries to Kalispell Regional Medical Center after falling from a roof on North Belmar.

The intoxicated pedestrian passed out in the lobby of an inn on U.S. 93 South was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
