Ghostly screams and a 4x4 chase

Five blood-curdling screams were heard near the Conrad cemetery around the witching hour Thursday. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies scoured the area, but were unable to locate anyone. The source of the apparent screams remains unknown.

A shoving match apparently ensued during a vehicle repossession on Woodland Road Thursday afternoon.

A man reportedly broke a woman’s window, then left on foot from a Shady Lane residence around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. He lives at a motel down the street. Deputies cited the man for criminal mischief.

A 16-year-old went to Kalispell Regional Medical Center Thursday night after he was reportedly assaulted by another teen.

The ATV racing up and down Mountain Drive Thursday around 9:40 p.m. was gone when deputies arrived.

A traffic signal near a box store on U.S. 2 East Thursday night was stuck around 10:30 p.m., displaying green lights in both directions. No wrecks were reported in the area and the light has been fixed.

Finding suspicious, burned balls of tinfoil on his property on Weaver Farm Road Friday morning, a man called deputies, wanting the items examined.

A woman alerted authorities Friday around noon after her ex-boyfriend apparently hacked into her Facebook and e-mail accounts.

Two tires were stolen from the back of a pickup truck parked at a gas station on East Reserve, as was fuel, Friday around 2 p.m.

A Hellman Lane resident wanted advice Friday afternoon about feral cats on the property.

Deputies received 159 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Kalispell police

Kalispell Police chased a fleeing ATV through town before running down its driver on foot. The 19-year-old suspect was apprehended Friday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. and taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, complaining of injuries. An officer went to stop the four wheeler near First Avenue West North and West Washington Street around 1 p.m. Friday, but the driver refused to yield, leading the officer in a chase eastbound to Whitefish Stage. Successfully evading the officer, the suspect ditched the yellow ATV in an alley near East California and Eight Avenue East North and proceeded on foot. But police soon located him and after a short foot pursuit arrested him for obstructing justice.

After he was apparently punched at a bar on Woodland Park Drive Thursday night, a man said he didn’t want to sign a complaint, but just wanted officers to arrest everyone at the bar. The man said he did not need medical attention. Officers are waiting for the man to return their call.

A “scuzzy” looking man was hanging out by the back door of a senior center on Heritage Way around midnight Thursday, but took off when an employee went to leave.

A sixth grader wrapped an air soft assault rifle in a towel and took it to school Friday morning. A monitor reported the incident to police, who counseled the parties involved.

Officers received 105 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Whitefish Police received 23 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls Police received 21 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Alarms

ALERT flew a person who sustained a possible head injury to Kalispell Regional Medical Center from a Lakeside ski area around 2:40 p.m. Friday.

A 20-year-old woman who delivered a baby three days ago was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center from a Many Lakes Drive residence Friday morning with a possible pelvic fracture.

Responding to a burning smell in a garage on Gunsite Loop, Evergreen Fire Rescue was unable to locate any fire or smoke and cleared the scene around 11 a.m. Friday.
