Glacier sophomore Lexy Boschee earned second-place in the girls high jump at one of the premier high school indoor track and field events in the country on Saturday.

Boschee cleared 5-foot-6 clean in the finals to earn runner-up honors at the 32nd annual Simplot Games at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.

The three-day event, which began on Thursday, includes roughly 2,000 athletes from across the U.S. and Canada.

Boschee won the high jump as a freshman at the Montana Class AA state track meet at Legends Stadium last May with a jump of 5-6. She was the lone Kalispell athlete to attend Simplot.

The field of 41 high jumpers at Simplot had to clear 4-11 in one of three attempts to move on to finals and Boschee did so on her first try along with 23 others.

In the finals, the field shrunk to just four girls who cleared 5-6, including Boschee.

Tara Richmond of Long Beach, Calif., went on to win on her final attempt with a jump of 5-8.
