Slasher strikes tires near C. Falls

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies investigated what appeared to be an insatiable tire slasher who ripped through the Falcon Acres Loop and Pheasant Road area outside Columbia Falls overnight Saturday. Tires were slashed at four homes, solar lights were damaged at another and criminal mischief was reported at another.

A man and woman with a long-standing practice of fighting in an apartment complex on Montana 35 apparently were drinking and spatting again just after midnight Sunday. The man went to jail when deputies discovered an outstanding misdemeanor warrant against him.

An ATV had been hauled out of an open storage barn on Pioneer Road but the would-be thieves were unable to make off with it. Deputies stepped up their patrols.

Somebody kicked in the door to a house on 12th Avenue West in Kalispell, a caller reported Saturday. Miscellaneous tools went missing.

A rock slide left nothing more than a bit of a rocky road on East Lakeshore outside Whitefish Saturday afternoon, Montana Department of Transportation officials reported. Since it’s a county road, they referred the mess to the Flathead County Road Department.

Deputies answering a call to Lore Lake Road recovered a vehicle reported stolen out of Gallatin County.

Two young men who showed up at a home on Stageline Drive by Whitefish Saturday apparently were legitimate when they claimed to be searching for a lost dog.

Things had been quiet when police showed up that time.

Officers are investigating a woman’s report that another woman came into her home on Second Avenue West early Sunday looking for a man, but then assaulted the resident. She ran and the intruder gave chase, police reported.

A skater at Woodland ice skating rink Saturday night returned to his gear bag to find somebody had ditched three wallets in it after stealing $200 in cash from them.

Montana Highway Patrol went to a call about a vehicle stuck beneath the railroad trestle on South Hilltop at its junction with Jellison Road. Somebody with a Bobcat loader was pulling it out when they arrived.

Big Mountain ambulance took a 10-year-old boy from the ski area to North Valley Hospital after a fall Saturday night.

Evergreen ambulance took a patient with a back injury from Majestic Valley Arena to Kalispell Regional Medical Center Saturday night.

Kalispell Fire Department had the tenders of a bonfire on Fifth Avenue East shrink the blaze considerably after one report of 12-foot flames.
