Runaway driver goes for a spin

Following a minor collision between a black Ford pickup an a silver Ford Escort near the Idaho and Meridian intersection Monday around 5 p.m., the Escort apparently pulled over as if it intended to stop. But then, it took off, escaping through a nearby car wash bay. Kalispell Police caught up with the driver about an hour later and issued a citation.

When a pizza-delivery woman arrived to drop off a pie at a Hawthorn Avenue residence Monday around 7 p.m., she noticed an ex-employee hiding behind a vehicle. The man’s probation officer was advised of the situation.

Two girls were “jumped” in front of Flathead High School Monday around 3:30 p.m. Police are investigating and have a suspect in custody.

A man showed up at a business on Fifth Avenue West and apparently shoved his mother to the ground Monday afternoon. He and his girlfriend then took off running westbound on Center Street. Police were unable to locate him.

Someone entered an unoccupied Second Avenue East residence sometime over the weekend and knocked over cans of paint in the garage.

During a traffic stop on Woodland Park Hill around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, a man was arrested for DUI and another man was arrested on warrants.

A woman pushed a man over custodial issues Tuesday morning at a Ninth Avenue West residence and was later arrested on warrants.

A 19-year-old punched a truck belonging to his parents around 11 a.m. Tuesday, damaging the vehicle. Police are investigating.

Officers received 88 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

After they were asked to leave a casino on U.S. 2 East around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man and a woman were seen hanging around the parking lot, apparently asking people for money and hiding behind trash bins. They were gone when Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies arrived.

A metal mailbox was stolen from a Managhan Lane residence Monday afternoon.

The two children spinning broadies in a four-wheeler along Western Drive Monday night were counseled.

A Bigfork vehicle repair shop was broken into sometime Monday, and tires and tools were stolen.

The man seen walking his unlighted bike along the side of U.S. 93 near Somers Monday around 7:30 p.m. was given a ride by deputies.

A vehicle was found running in the parking lot of a car dealership on U.S. 2 East around 11:30 p.m. Monday, but no one was around. Deputies secured the vehicle.

While jogging along North Somers Road, a woman was charged by a dog, then bitten around 9 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies located the dog’s owner and quarantined the animal at its home.

A large jerky jar full of change was stolen from a Sunset Drive residence Tuesday morning.

Deputies received 139 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Whitefish Police arrested a 28-year-old Billings man for DUI along Central Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers received 22 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Columbia Falls Police arrested a 17-year-old for disorderly conduct at Columbia Falls High School Tuesday afternoon. He was released to his parents.

Alarms

Flames and smoke were reportedly coming from underneath a vehicle around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, but were out by the time Bigfork Fire Department arrived.

A woman with an unknown medical condition was transported from a Sunnyview Lane business to Kalispell Regional Medical Center around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.
