Danika Johnson scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Flathead led from start to finish in dropping Glacier 33-21 on Friday in Western AA girls basketball action at Flathead High School.

The Bravettes (4-14 overall and 1-10 league) jumped out to a 10-3 lead and rolled from there.

Flathead led 21-15 at the half and outscored Glacier (7-13 and 2-10) 8-2 in the fourth quarter.

“A good win for our program,” Flathead coach Karly Tait said afterwards.

“Much needed.

“We kind of talked about it being our time,” she added.

“The girls were fired up. We just cranked it up sensibly. That’s what kept us motivated and going.”

Tait said Johnson had a huge game offensively.

“She really made some great moves to the basket,” Tait said.

“And, she finished.”

Johnson was held to nine points in the first meeting on Feb. 5, which Glacier won 49-38.

Flathead turned in a strong game defensively, holding Glacier to single digit scoring in three of the four periods.

“Defensively we just took them out of their rhythm,” Tait said.

“And they never really found it.”

Sydney Sharaf and Brooke Watkins both scored five points to lead Glacier.

“I’m proud of the girls,” she added.

“Hopefully we can get a win tomorrow.”

Flathead, which had lost eight straight, wraps up regular-season action today at home with Missoula Hellgate, 4:30 p.m.

This was the regular-season finale for Glacier.

The crosstown series between the two schools is tied at 3-3.
