Shouting in a strange language, a transient ran from the woods and kicked a dog Thursday evening. The dog’s owner speculated the man was speaking Russian. Kalispell Police told the 55-year-old suspect that camping is not allowed at Woodland Park. The next morning, the man was seen sleeping on a bench in the park. Officers advised him to leave or he would be cited for trespassing.

A man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt was caught in the act as he tried to steal a car stereo around 12:25 a.m. Friday. The suspect ran northbound on Fourth Avenue West, leaving the electronics behind. Police were unable to locate the would-be-thief.

A Teal Drive resident saw a beer can thrown from the window of an older black Chevy truck as it raced up and down the street around 3 a.m. Friday. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

A dark colored SUV pulled up to an empty field along Parkridge Drive and let out a pit bull Thursday evening. When it was time for the dog to go home, the driver called, but the dog wouldn’t come. So, the woman drove off without it. Police were unable to locate the woman or the dog.

Officers received 105 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday.

After punching his father, a 16-year-old left on foot from a Columbia Falls residence around 6:40 p.m. Thursday. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies later found him sitting in a boat in the garage. He was arrested for partner or family member assault.

Deputies were unable to locate the suburban and the Chevy SUV seen tearing up an empty field near Concord Lane Thursday evening.

A gate on Labrant Road hit a county vehicle Thursday around 5:30 p.m.

A vicious dog was chasing children in the Kokanee Bend area Thursday evening. Deputies secured the dog in its yard and left a notice for its owner.

A 15-year-old girl and her friend were chased down in East Evergreen by two other teens Thursday around 6 p.m.

The man found on the ground near the post office in Columbia Falls just before midnight Thursday turned out to be intoxicated.

Suspecting a juvenile party, deputies arrived at Leisure Island to find the area deserted, but a bonfire still burning around midnight Thursday. Twenty people reportedly had been there, but deputies suspect they had a scanner which tipped them off.

Around 12:45 a.m. Friday, a man began ringing the doorbell of a residence on U.S. 2 East. He told the resident he needed to use the phone. Although the resident refused, the man kept ringing. The resident called deputies. Upon arrival, they learned the man had been left in the area by friends and wanted to get home to East Glacier. He was given a ride.

Four mailboxes torn from their posts were found scattered along Harmony Drive Friday morning.

Tools and a cable box were reported missing from a garage and house Friday around 9:45 a.m. The Sunnybrook Lane resident was in the process of moving and had left the garage unlocked.

A deer was lying near a wall in the parking lot of a box store on U.S. 2 East around 11 a.m. Friday. Although the deer appeared to have been hit by a car, it was later seen walking away.

Deputies received 124 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Around 4 p.m. Thursday, Whitefish Police responded to a report of an indecent exposure at the middle school.

Officers received 19 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Columbia Falls Police arrested a 17-year-old man for shoplifting Carmex from a grocery on Nucleus Avenue around noon Friday. He was also issued an MIP for possessing tobacco.

Officers received 21 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

A 16-year-old was reportedly out of control and breaking things inside a Cameron Lane residence Thursday afternoon. The boy’s father had to sit on him to subdue him until deputies arrived. He was later transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

The 1-year-old who accidentally ate her mother’s birth control was taken to a pediatrician Friday morning.
