Man strikes nurse at hospital

A patient at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center Emergency Room reportedly struck a nurse around 6 a.m. Friday. The man, who possibly had been drinking, was at the Center to receive stitches for an injury authorities believe resulted from an assault. He was reportedly out of control and yelling at employees. Kalispell Police cited him for assault.

A few juvenile males who were reportedly throwing snowballs at people from the roof of a house on Fourth Avenue West Thursday evening and reportedly hit a vehicle at least five times were gone when police arrived.

A motor home reportedly slid down a hill. There are no injuries and it was towed.

Police received two separate complaints of snowcats racing up the street and down an alley off Fifth Avenue West. They were gone when officers arrived.

A car was turning onto West Idaho Street when it and a truck collided. The driver of the car, a man, was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Attempting to purchase alcohol, an apparently underage man fled when asked for his identification. Police were given a description.

A man on Glenwood Drive called police to report that his neighbors were setting off fireworks and he said the fireworks were hitting the apartment building. Officers were unable to locate the fireworks upon arrival.

A man showed up at a residence on First Avenue West, thus violating a temporary restraining order against him, and said he wanted to see his children. He then reportedly took off his shirt, apparently intending to fight. He was arrested on charges of violating both his restraining order and probation.

A woman said a man tried to hit her, then attempted to contact their son around 2 a.m. Friday. Officers advised the man to return to the Fifth Avenue West residence when he was sober and in a clearer state of mind.

Police arrested four people on charges of driving under the influence Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Officers received 25,417 calls for service in 2009.

Officers received 96 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Following a verbal argument with his wife, a man reportedly left for a bar on Montana 35 around 7 p.m. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies found him there, spoke with him about the argument, told him not to drive home, then left. Deputies received a call from the man later that evening informing them he had driven to an inn on U.S. 2. He reportedly said he had nowhere to sleep. Deputies took his car keys and drove him to a friend’s house.

A woman reportedly hit a bank on East Cottonwood Drive then left the scene around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. She was later pulled over on a traffic stop, at which point her vehicle was towed and she was given a ride home.

Deputies responding to a report of criminal mischief near a store on U.S. 2 discovered it was some juveniles doing a scavenger hunt around 10 p.m. Thursday.

A Hungry Horse woman reportedly called her four-old-son around 2 a.m. wanting to talk, but his father refused. Deputies advised her to call back when sober.

The driver of a truck towing children on a sled along Ranch Road was told to stop Thursday evening.

A mountain lion was reportedly sighted near East Reserve street around 4:30 a.m. Friday. Montana Fish and Game were notified.

Deputies received 54,992 calls for service in 2009.

Deputies received 181 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Whitefish Police reported a night of numerous fights and disturbances. The nine officers on duty were reportedly busy until around 5 a.m. Friday.

Officers arrested a man, 23, on burglary charges.

A man, 20, was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

A 55-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence.

A 25-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct.

A man, 48, was arrested for having an open container.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested for criminal trespass and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Another woman, 57, was arrested for reckless driving after she reportedly took out a tree.

And a man, 26, was arrested for driving under the influence after he reportedly hit a light pole.

Officers received 9,896 calls for service in 2009.

Officers received 53 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Around 2 a.m. Friday, Columbia Falls Police arrested a 45-year-old man on his second charge of driving under the influence.

About an hour later, a 39-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence, her third.

Officers received 9,896 calls for service in 2009.

Officers received 37 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.
