Dad crushes lilacs to avenge son

Following an argument on a school bus Friday afternoon, a boy told his father that a classmate was mean to him. The man, apparently outraged, jumped in his truck and drove to the classmate’s house on Olney Loop Road. He reportedly drove across the lawn, running over some lilac bushes. He then reportedly knocked on the door and exchanged words with the parent, then backed over the bushes as he exited. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies cited the man for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.  

A man accidentally drove his brand-new snowmobile off a bank in the Canyon Creek area Saturday afternoon. During the 911 call, authorities only heard unintelligible screaming before the line disconnected. A deputy went to the area to investigate and learned some other snowmobilers had found the man and pulled him out. The man is reportedly OK.

Authorities were unable to locate a horse that was reportedly stuck in a fence near Shady Lane.

A black lab died after it was hit by a car on U.S. 93 North Friday night. The dog didn’t have a collar and it is unknown if it had an owner.

Around midnight Friday, a man was apparently running from a screaming woman near the intersection of Montana 82 and Somers Road. It is unclear why. Both were counseled by authorities. The woman was taken to her residence and the man reportedly wanted to walk home. 

Busting a juvenile party near the Tally Lake gravel pit around 1 a.m. Saturday, authorities issued three minor in possession citations and arrested one adult man on a Kalispell Police warrant.

Responding to a report of men yelling during a possible bar fight on Montana 35, authorities learned the shouting man was not fighting, but had fractured his ankle when he slipped on the ice. He was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

A shirtless man ran off on foot following an apparent fight at a bar on Pleasant Valley Road involving six people very early Saturday morning. Authorities are gathering statements about the event.

Authorities were unable to locate the ammonia smell reportedly coming from the gas pumps on Third Avenue East in Columbia Falls.

Deputies received 109 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kalispell police

An apparently drunk woman who reportedly threatened to drive her vehicle off Hungry Horse Dam Friday night was spoken to by Kalispell Police, who determined there is no indication the woman is a danger to herself.

Officers were unable to catch a small black and white dog running in the garbage near an apartment complex on Two Mile Drive Friday afternoon.

 A woman reportedly trying to flag down a ride and stumbling into West Idaho Street traffic around 3 a.m. Saturday was assisted by officers.

Officers have received two calls about a cat with a broken leg. The animal has reportedly been cared for by a veterinary clinic on West Reserve Drive.

Ignoring requests to stay off the property, a civil servant attempted to serve a woman with papers Saturday morning. The woman was reportedly concerned her dog would bite the visitor and called police to ask who would be responsible if that happened. She was counseled.

Officers received 69 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Whitefish police

A man reportedly fell asleep at a table in a bar on Central Avenue and would not leave when roused. Whitefish Police arrived around 12:30 a.m. Saturday and determined the man needed medical attention. He was transported to North Valley Hospital. No word on if the man had been drinking, but it is likely.

During a traffic stop on U.S. 93 around 1 a.m. Saturday, officers arrested a 31-year-old Columbia Falls woman for driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.

Officers received 33 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
