Girls Prep Basketball: Latimer leads Wolfpack past Polson, 65-40

POLSON — Glacier had its best offensive showing of the season Saturday in downing Polson 65-40 in a girls nonconference basketball game pitting Class AA versus A.

Paige Latimer led the attack with 17 points, while Baylee Quay added 13.

Glacier’s previous scoring high was 61 in a season-opening victory over Whitefish.

Glacier (3-4) used back-to-back 13-point quarters to start the game and take a 26-21 advantage. Glacier outscored Polson (4-2) 39-19 in the second half.

Nicole Davey had 10 points for Polson.

Bigfork 57, Troy 12

TROY — Quinci Paine scored 15 points and Caitlin Charlebois added 14 as the Bigfork Valkyries downed host Troy 57-12 in a District 7B girls basketball matchup.

The Vals led 28-9 at the half and outscored the Trojans 23-2 in the third quarter to seal the victory.

Allie Maestas scored five points to lead Troy.

EUREKA — Eureka improved to 3-1 in District 7B play with a victory over Plains.

Steph Vogelman led the Eureka attack with 16 points. Cassidy Morgan followed with 10.

Tayler Holder had a big game on the boards, pulling down 16 rebounds. Morgan totaled eight.

Selene Elster led in steals with five, and Carly Hammond had four assists for the Lions.

Eureka pulled away for good in the fourth quarter, outscoring Plains 18-3.

Logan Best added 10 points for Libby, which led 28-9 at half and 40-18 after three quarters.

Nina Orozco paced Ronan with nine points.

FRENCHTOWN — Sarah Lester scored 20 points and the Southwestern A Lady Broncs cruised past Whitefish.

Shelby Backer paced the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points and Jessica Slaybaugh added three as the offensive and defensive woes continued for Whitefish (0-5 overall, 0-1).

The Lady Bulldogs host District 7B Bigfork on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
