NAMPA, Idaho — Kaleb Mitchell (103) had the best showing for Glacier’s wrestlers at the Rollie Lane Invitational on Saturday.

Mitchell was the lone Wolfpack wrestler to advance to the finals, where he lost to an athlete from Borah High School (Idaho) 2-0.

“A very good match,” Glacier coach Mark Fischer said.

“He got the job done.”

Mitchell, a freshman, gave up a reversal in the final minute in the championship match. He went 6-1 in the two-day event to improve to 19-2 on the season.

Mitchell wrestlers at 98 pounds in Montana, but moved up to 103, which is the lowest weight class in Idaho.

Also placing for Glacier were Shane St. Onge (140), who was fifth; and Dan Gilbert (285), who was sixth.

St. Onge went 6-2 in tournament action and won his final match 7-3.

Gilbert was pinned in his final effort and finished 5-3 for the two days.

Glacier had 13 wrestlers in action and nine competed on the final day. Fischer said Glacier was one of five schools to have nine wrestlers on the mat Saturday.

“It’s a great tournament,” he said.

“I love it a lot.

“Probably about one year away from competing (for a top spot team wise) in a big tournament like this,” he added.

“It was worth our trip. They (wrestlers) had a blast here, great competition. Six states were represented here. It was a very tough tournament.”

Fischer said he hopes Glacier can compete in this event next season.

The only other Montana team at the tournament was Bozeman.
